Senior Material and Process Development Engineer

Description:
Responsible for evaluating new materials and designing polymeric compounds to meet wire and cable specifications to include processibility and cost. Develop robust extrusion process, solve material and process related problems to assure quality, documents material and process information, and conducts effective training to implement into daily production. SPECIFIC
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Research and evaluate new polymeric materials, compounds, and additives for applications. Design and develop compound formulations to meet specific strategic market needs for Aerospace and Military shipboard applications.
2) Conduct and implement process improvement trials to achieve superior quality and reduce overall production cost.
3) Maintain an awareness of current commercially available materials.
4) Help develop and maintain material database.
5) Analyze customer samples and needs to provide expertise to product design group.
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S., preferably M.S. in Polymer Science/Plastics Engineering with 3 years of Material development and Process experience. Specific material and process experience in one or more of the following highly desirable: a. High temperature Fluoropolymer extrusion (FEP, PVDF, ETFE) b. Electron Irradiation crosslinkable compounds design and process c. PTFE Ram Extrusion • Extensive knowledge of polymeric materials as related to cable production. • Experience with MS-Project, AutoCAD and SPC software.
